Kent Library Offers Class On Drawing With Graphite

KENT LAKES, N.Y. -- Learn to create rich, vibrant color and value using colored pencils at Kent Library's 6-week series.

The series titled, "Drawing Soft Realism with Graphite and Colored Pencils," will cover basic techniques such as layering, burnishing, and graphing. Participants will also develop and extend their basic drawing skills, such as exploring line, shape and value, and perspective. 

Students will be encouraged to be creative and to have fun either working on projects of their own choosing or those suggested by the instructor. No previous experience is necessary. 

The class, which is intended for adults, will begin on Wednesday, Jan. 6 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Class will be taught by Mary Schreiber who holds an M.S. from Bank Street College of Education. 

Locally, she teaches art classes for both adults and children. As an artist, her interests are colored pencil drawing and constructing marionettes. She is also a teacher trainer and educational consultant.
